Alpinamed D-Mannose is a medical device for the prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections. D-mannose occurs naturally in fruit and berries and, unlike glucose (dextrose), is practically not metabolized in the urinary tract. In a urinary tract infection, E. coli bacteria attach themselves to the bladder and urinary tract and cause inflammatory infections. D-mannose helps to prevent the bacteria from attaching and simplifies the rinsing out of the bacteria during urination. The product contains the naturally occurring monosaccharide D-mannose as a functional component.
